FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

General Questions

  • WIN is for all high school students with a focus on sophomore and junior year students.

However, we are open to all high school students who demonstrate strong willingness to learn, network, and be part of the cohort.

  • WIN is a perfect compliment to the academic work that schools and test prep centers already provide.

We teach the "soft" skills (we dare to say essential skills) that are often overlooked.

Together, we are able to give students the skills, networks and the platform so they can succeed in whatever and wherever is next.

  • There is an application only for the “All-In” tier and a capacity of 100 students.

A small cohort ensures that students are able to effectively build community with both the Program Director and their peers.

  • WIN strongly believes that these are three rapidly growing areas that will have tremendous impact in the decades to come. Add to that, WIN's CEO has built his career and tremendous network in these disciplines.

There are indeed many subject areas other than STEM, finance, and entrepreneurship that one could explore.

If there is a strong demand for other career areas, we may re-evaluate in the future. But for now, this is our niche.

  • Each cohort will have a variety of speakers each week working in STEM, finance, and entrepreneurship, approximately an equal number of each per cohort.

Additionally, WIN believes it is important to have different perspectives. As such, speakers may include those early in their career journeys, mid-career and even executives.

  • Students who participate in the Career Explorer package meet 1x a week for up to 60 minutes. After all, students have homework and other activities.

Students who participate in the Career Readiness package meets 2x a week for up to 60 minutes. 1 session is focused on career exploration and 1 session is on college/career readiness.

  • WIN believes strongly in consistency and curiosity. As such, no two weeks are exactly the same. We hope that you come into each session with an open mind to learn, ask questions, and gain a different perspective.

We also encourage students to be present. That means, phone free and cameras on!

  • No. Students have enough pressure as it is! And one of the reasons WIN was created was to offer students an opportunity to explore early on before additional pressures particularly in junior and senior years of high school.

Package specific questions

  • In addition to career exploration, it is also critical to equip students with essential life skills needed for college and career. We do this in the form of activities and workshops designed to help you in the real world. Examples of these activities include:

    • building a professional presence (i.e. LinkedIn)

    • choosing a college major / minor

    • finding a mentor

    • resume creation or resume review

    • and more…

Sometimes these activities can be in groups, fostering teamwork and leadership development.

  • College advocates are top high school graduates who have recently transitioned to college. They meet virtually with WIN students throughout each cohort to share their experiences and answer questions about the transition from high school to college- the good, the bad, and everything in between. Students can ask them (mostly) anything about their majors, grades, extracurricular, and more.

Think of them like phoning a friend!

  • Students accepted in the ‘All-In’ package will have access to exclusive events hosted by WIN and its partners.

For example, our Summer 2025 event this year takes place in Houston, TX this July. See more details here.
