Why we exist
We know that:
Students are under enormous pressure. Add to that, senior year of high school could be too late to start making important future decisions.
Guidance counselors are stretched thin. Because of that, they may not be up to date on all the career options today or have the time for individualized guidance.
Academics are important but understanding how to also apply it in real life is critical.
Who you know and what you know are both crucial. Networking (and learning how to) is key.
What we do
We tackle these challenges by starting earlier in the process and in a fun, pressure-free environment.
How it works:
WIN runs 2 virtual programs per year- Fall and Spring.
Each cohort is 8 weeks and meets up to 2x a week for up to 60 minutes each.
Here is what you can expect each week:
Introduction(s) from our speaker(s), their career path(s) and a day in the life of their role(s)
Current industry trends + advice/guidance on how to prepare for the future in the industry
Networking + Q&A with our speaker(s)
Interactive and engaging activity or discussion related to college and career readiness
Outcomes:
Here are just some of the expected outcomes from each cohort:
-
Students often lack the opportunity and connections in fields they are most interested in. We change that by bringing a curated network of top professionals in STEM, finance and entrepreneurship.
Students are able to ask them anything and start building networks.
-
Meet like-minded peers who are also trying to figure out their next steps.
Be part of a larger community- outside of your usual network- and who will be there to help you.
-
There are just so many directions one can go. STEM- for example- can mean many things.
By exploring careers in depth each weeks, students are able to reflect on specific career options.
-
Networking is critical. And so is learning how to talk to professionals.
Students will learn how to properly do so.
